So, this project explains what zakat is in terms of language and terminology. Zakat is also divided into two main types: zakat maal (goods) and zakat fitrah (fitrah). I will only briefly explain this. If you want to know more, you can watch the video above or watch it on my channel, MAJI Project. Don’t forget to subscribe and like the video. Okay, so zakat has conditions. Those who are obligated to pay zakat are Muslims and free. It is not required to be mature or sane. Even insane people and children who possess assets that meet the requirements are still subject to zakat. Regarding the assets to be paid, the following conditions must be met: 1. The assets are fully owned, 2. The assets are growing, 3. The assets have reached the nisab (minimum threshold), 4. The assets have reached the haul (the assets have lasted for a year), 5. The assets are in excess of basic needs. Some assets that scholars agree are obligatory for zakat are: 1. Atsman (gold, silver, and currency). 2. Livestock (camels, cows, and goats). 3. Agriculture and fruits (wheat, dates, and grapes).
